Hi Norm, I live in Parkes, central New South Wales,Australia. I’ve only just heard about you (long story but I basically missed the whole 1980’s and 1990’s music) so wondering if you could please advise what album of your stuff to get so I can hear what you’re all about. I love beat; rythm; drums and bass; I love the music with the World Cup in 200 seconds clip. Hopefully I can catch up on the music I missed years ago! Thanks for your time. cheers from Janet Looby (it’s Irish) (and yes I’m old . . . ish (48). Cya ! :)

The music on that clip is me under the name of the urban allstars called “it began in africa’ that came out in about 1988. If you like that stuff perhaps check out beats international. A band I was in about that time…

it’s been used at the end of “there’s only one Jimmy Grimble” in the final football match in the film. That scene makes the film, one of my favourites. And it’s still used at the city of manchester stadium when the players run out before the match and makes the atmosphere in that stadium immense.

    Hi Norman,

First i wanna thank you that you always provide us with your great music. And you do not seem to get tired. Go on.

My question is, when the shop will be ready?? You wrote in a response that there will be soon the chance to buy a USB Stick at Clapham! Is there a way to get one of them, even if i am not at Clapham?
    Thanks

If I may, can I just like to clear that one up for all those that think you’re not playing. The original flyer had you on it. Then the next one didn’t have you on it. Low and behold, you’re on the final one.

This did confuse a lot of us fans out here. Hope that makes sense to all.

Hi Norm, when you recorded the song “Praise you”, what key was the piano part in? I’ve always loved that song and would like to be able to have the written notes or sheet music to practice it.

    Please email me back,

Hi, Bit of an obscure question but,What was the first club you opened in Brighton? My step dad (Robert Forsyth) reckons he did the electrics in there for you…..while having his leg in plaster!!! I know he exaggerates alot but I still can’t tell the difference between fact an fiction. He says he put in all these gadgets for you with lights that make whooshing noises, and Tony Hadley sang on the opening night.. Anyway thanks for your time. Lynn Davies

I haven’t really opened any clubs, I just play at them. The first club I worked at was the brighton belle but I don’t remember any whooshing noises and I definitely don’t remember tony hadley. Actually I also worked at a club called the yard at a club called the street and spandau ballet did come for an after party there?

Which of your song has an african american dancing on a street and the people come and watch him and talk about him saying that the man lost his wife and that he danced on that particular day from sunrise to sunset to bring back his wife ??

Hey Norman, I bet that this is a question that has been asked to you an infinite number of times and for that I apologize. How does a complete beginner get into DJ-ing? Should I practice on some computer programs first, like Virtual DJ and ACID? I love listening to this kind of music and I am a creative person so I would like to make some it as well.

It may be a bit of a vague question but any answer would be greatly appreciated.

No one is quite sure right now if the future of DJ’ing involves cds or just computer programs playing sound files. I suspect the latter. I would recommend the vestax spin controller, only £199 if you have a laptop. It’ll allow you to play all the tunes in your Itunes and loop and filter them, add fx etc…..
