    Hey Norm,

Love the new album, it’s my favorite thing you’ve done since Essential Selection Vol 1. Is that a sample from Heavyweight’s ‘Wave of the Future’ I hear on your new song ‘Everybody Have a Good time’ ?

    Hi. I love you.

I’m a Peace Corps Volunteer in Benin, West Africa. Some of my colleagues saw you in S. Africa and I am still burning with jealousy because I will never be able to afford something like that, but I wanted to tell you… The culture here is a shocking contrast to anything I have ever known. I continue to be amazed at the levels of violence, disorganization and apathy I witness every day on the streets of the capital here, but your music provides a cheerful and ironic sountrack to the scene. Some days I believe your creative energy coming through my headphones is the only thing keeping me sane as I see children beaten and sold, adults defecating in the road and the sun baking us all to a crisp.
It’s like a put on your music and suddenly am able to see the beauty in it all in my mildly medatative trance. You bring me Peace.
    I thank you.

Was that a question? You decide.

    Hello Norman,

As an unsigned artist struggling to get recognition, I was wondering what your thoughts are on artists breaking into the current music industry?

I myself think that there now seems to be a greater reluctance from labels, etc to take a gamble on more experimental/original talent, opting instead for more of the same ‘Safe bets’ as it were. (Maybe I’m a little sceptical as I am an unsigned artist, chipping away, but it would be interesting to hear your opinion?)

Below is a tune by me, your feedback would be great!

Better living through Chemistry made me want to write Electronica- A true influence album!

    Hope to hear back,
    Keep being Ruddy-Marvelous!!!

Ross. I think you are coming through an exciting time in the music industry. Before the coming of the interweb/downloads etc musicians were entirely reliant on record companies for their whole career, being signed was vital to people hearing your music. Thanks to the changes we no longer need record companies, most signed artists are trying to get unsigned so they get control back of their music and income. You can now reach the whole world with you-tubes, soundcloud etc and not have to give 80% of your income to some record company. Vive le revolution!

Thank you so much for replying Norman. I heard an interview a few years back with the beastie boys, they were predicting a revolution imminent back then. I will push on with blitzing the internet to the sound of Stereosmith.

If it’s not toooo cheeky, could I ask for feedback on my music please? It would mean a lot to me to have someone who I respect give me some pointers.

It was a great night. I haven’t played through the dawn since the beginning of the year in murcia and I’d forgotten how uplifting it is seeing the dawn sky and being able to see the crowd all smiling and wasted (at night I can’t really see you) the music somehow sounds different as the sun comes up.
Great crowd, great reception. Thank you buenos aires!

    Bootleg!

Always admired your music and the people who have helped producing what you do. It’s always been top notch quality (without the pretentiousness you usually find in other well produced productions.)

I wish today’s music could share more of that “counter culture within the culture” feeling your tracks always gave me in the past (and still does.)

I dunno if you promote unofficial work done by other’s through your site, if not then feel free do disregard this message. But since i’m a music producer myself and always been a fan of yours, i decided to remix your track Sunset (Bird Of Prey) some time ago.

It’s a bootleg of course, but it’s a totally fan-based non-profit creation. I created it as a homage to the times when i could hear productions like yours on the commercial radio. My version is sort of European melodic full on-style, more dance oriented i’d say. Took the liberty to do a simple remix the video as well!

I hope you don’t mind me posting it here ;)

With many thanks and humble gratitude

Daniel, don’t fret. I love bootlegs, mash-ups and all things you tube. I’m liking your mix, probably a bit too euro for my dj sets but it has a nice edge to it.you should have gone for the full on hardfloor style 303 approach!
Nice work and post anything you want. That’s what the net is for…..

right….i live in newcastle but i am from leeds and im organising a minibus to come see you in nottingham….. so this mini bus is gonna travel down from the north east to see you on the sat in Huddersfield, then again in nottingham is there any chance we can get to meet the man himself?

Your best bet is possibly to go to the brighton and hove albion vs huddersfield game on the Saturday and make a total weekend of it. That’s what we’re doing!
Seriously though I will put richie plus 4 on the vip list for nottingham.
Identify yourself and we can say hello…

I’m much more comfortable dj-ing barefoot. I definitely dance better!
My feet get absolutely filthy, I mean proper soiled and occasionally cut but it’s all part of the fun!

Thought the email address might have caught your attention………

Just reading through and comments and stuff on this cool myspace, and particular to one by Ljussie (October 12th), and got me thinking of Knights of Cydonia by Muse; really needs a remix and a half, especially know we seem to be hitting the peak of the dub step year. Norm if with your contacts you get me the individual clean sample parts, i will remix this for Spring, and of-course send it to your label. Why so long????? It deserves the time for something big.
Anyhows let me know your thoughts, privately or publicly.
